Kaden carrying the Relay torch - 2009

We have just completed our second Relay For Life with Kaden's team...Kaden's Crusaders. It was as amazing as it was last year. Kaden had the privilege of being one of two junior ambassadors this year. Unfortunately the other little boy chosen, Elias Garrett, passed away in the beginning of May just ten days short of his fourth birthday of Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. So when our team headed to the track on Friday it was with excitement and heavy hearts.

Kaden did an amazing job with all of his duties as jr. ambassador, sometimes with some shyness but always a big smile because that is Kaden. The highlight of the event was seeing the smile on his face when the police chief and sergeant got out of their cars and walked with him when he carried the torch to the field. I will forever be grateful to those two men for the smile and memories they gave to him.

After what seemed amazingly to be a short night of team fellowship and walking we were pleasantly surprised to find out at the closing ceremony that not only did we meet our goal for the year but we surpassed it by 20,000 dollars. WOO WHO!

I invite anyone who has been touched by cancer in any way to join us next summer as we relay again. Kaden's team will definitely be there relaying for Kaden and in Elias's memory. It is sure to be an unforgettable experience for all.
